The Pin-up brand was expanded with this update to include new full-body suits modeled after our spokes-girl: Bomber Girl. The full-body suits incorporated custom animations, facial blend shapes and multiple color variations. This project also created separate clothing pieces for users to mix and match. NEOPETS – THE DARKEST FAERIE (PS2) SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT OF AMERICA: VSI created over 60 minutes of unique FMV animation for this world renowned property featuring over 80 characters and 50 environments. We also provided models for marketing, animation demos for E3 as well as for commercials and web based promotions. VSI worked directly with First-Party Sony and the license on this production.
NEOPETS – PETPET ADVENTURES (PSP) SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT OF AMERICA:VSI is currently animating over 20 minutes of FMV cinematics for the PSP version of the NeoPets license game to debut in first quarter 2006.
AREA 51 (PS2, XBOX, PC) MIDWAY GAMES: VSI was contracted to create over 200 unique pieces of art to be used for the lore in the Area 51 project. We also did all of the load animation used between each level.
SONIC HEROES (PS2, XBOX, GC) SEGA OF AMERICA: VSI has animated over 30 minutes of FMV cinematics for the hugely popular Sonic Heroes game. We worked directly with Sega’s Japanese team and the animation featured over 30 characters and 15 environments as well as many high level effects that included explosions and morphing transformations.
SONIC HEROES/McDONALD’S “GET HAPPY” (TV COMMERCIAL) BBD&O WORLDWIDE: VSI created the 3D animation needed for the Sonic/McDonald’s “Get Happy” campaign, which supported the release of the Sonic Heroes video game. VSI created 3D for three separate: 30 second spots that aired nationally.
WORLD SERIES OF POKER 2005 (PS2, XBOX, PC) ACTIVISION: Activision contracted us to do the open and win FMV sequences for this hit series, which consisted of approx. five minutes of footage created in a two-week production schedule. Footage was also used in the national television commercial campaign.
RAPALA BASS FISHING 2004 (PS2, XBOX, PC) ACTIVISION:VSI did the open, win and interim animations sequences for Activision on this interactive title. Sequences included underwater realistic looking fish, trophy ceremonies and action stories.
NFL STREETS 2004 (PS2, XBOX) EA SPORTS: EA hired us to model all of the player heads for this title as well as to hand-animate the motion capture data taken of the football players in order to create “over the top” plays. VSI created this work by using EA’s proprietary tools.
CHOPPER FORCES & SMASH-UP DERBY (TV COMMERCIALS & PROPERTY DESIGN) JASMAN TOYS: VSI created the vehicles that were then used as the models for each of Jasman Toy’s most popular lines, Chopper Force and Smash up Derby Demolition Playset. VSI also created the box art for each of these lines as well as several: 30 second fully animated 3D spots that were used at the Toy Fair as well as nationally syndicated commercials.
ROCKET POWER (PS2, XBOX, GC) THQ: VSI was hired by THQ to develop an extreme-sports/action adventure title for this widely popular Nickelodeon property. Just prior to Alpha THQ did a re-org and cancelled over 20 titles, this title was never published.
BUTT UGLY MARTIANS (3D ANIMATED SERIES) NICKELODEON: VSI was the creative force behind this internationally successful series. Matt McDonald designed the characters and show design, and the studio created all of the 3D assets and characters that were animated at an overseas studio. VSI also managed all of the animation and worked directly with the studio to set up a production pipeline.
CREED MUSIC VIDEO “BULLETS”: VSI created a five minute fully 3D animated music video for the band Creed’s song “Bullets.” The video was based on an internal VSI property, Revelations, which were used in the video.
EVERQUEST – THE PLANES of POWER (PC) SONY ONLINE: VSI was contracted to create over 30 original NPC’s (non-playing characters) for the latest expansion pack of EverQuest, due in fall 2003. Scope of work entails creating all characters from concept – through completion – (modeling, texturing, lighting, surfacing and animating over 10 animation cycles per character). After animating in Maya, the data is then converted into Max, and then finally brought into the EverQuest game engine.
SEABLADE – THE ARGOSY (XBOX) SIMON AND SCHUSTER: VSI began this title originally as a first-party Microsoft game to be a launch title for the Xbox. The game was originally based on Steven Spielberg’s Artificial Intelligence film. Once the film hit the theaters, Microsoft realized the film was a flop and cancelled all three games in production. VSI bought the art and tech back from Microsoft and turned the game with Simon and Schuster into an original property. The game was released in the fall of 2002.
EVERQUEST – THE PLANES of POWER ATLAS MAP BOOK (PC) SONY ONLINE: In addition to the NPC work, a second team was been retained to illustrate over 190 map zones within the EverQuest world. Noted comic book illustrator, Dan Norton, who was the illustrator of the original EverQuest comic book, which was co-authored with Jim Lee, was the lead on the project at VSI.
TECH DECK DUDE – BARE KNUCKLE GRIND (PC, PS2, XBOX, GC) VISION SCAPE INTERACTIVE SELF PUBLISHED:VSI worked exclusively with toy company, XConcepts, owner and maker of the highly successful action sports toy line Tech Deck, to create and develop original content for interactive game development as well as animation for their Dude property. VSI created a PC product that was sold and distributed with the toy in major retail space and sold over 200,000 units.
MECH WARRIOR – WIZKIDZ: Matt McDonald was retained to re-create the Mech Warrior characters and vehicles for Jordan Weissman’s highly successful game universe, Battle Tech. Matt redesigned over 100 unique Mechs for this property and received an award for his designs.
LAND BEFORE TIME GREAT RACING ADVENTURE – (PSX) TDK MEDIAACTIVE:VSI developed this highly successful children’s movie and licensed property into an interactive title. This game is a multi-player racing game that features 16 levels of fast-action and exciting game-play for children 5-8 years of age.
RAZOR SCOOTER RACIN’ (PSX) CRAVE ENTERTAINMENT: Vision Scape Interactive developed two versions of one video game for the Sony PlayStation platform entitledRazor Scooter Racin’ and Scooter Racin’. Razor Scooter Racin’ incorporates intellectual property of Razor USA LLC which will be distributed in the United States and Japan. Scooter Racin’ will not incorporate the intellectual property for Razor USA LLC and will be made available in the European markets. Razor Scooter Racin’ is a straightforward hybrid of arcade “board-sport” and platform games. You control young, urban scooter thrashers who race against each other in hip, stylized settings. Perform tricks to add to your score, pull off fat air on ramps and half-pipes, and grind ledges and high flying wires.
INLINE RACIN’ (PSX) CRAVE ENTERTAINMENT: Vision Scape Interactive developed this game for the Sony PlayStation platform. Crave Entertainment is publishing and distributing this game that combines the best of vertical and street tricks with the excitement of a race. Inline Racin’ takes an edgy, pre-teen, Gen X approach to its both its game design and game play. Inline skating isn’t just about going up and down a ramp; it’s about pulling off some big air with 540 or 720 turn, or landing on your skates after a perfect Judo or Stale. And when you are young there’s nothing better than grinding on curbs and rails. It’s all here as you join one of three teams in hopes of claiming the trophy for winning the Planet Skate Racing Tournament. This game offers six levels consisting of three unique racing tracks and three inline skate parks.
EVERQUEST – THE SHADOWS OF LUCLIN EXPANSION PACK (PC) SONY ONLINE: Vision Scape Interactive was contracted with Sony Interactive to upgrade all of the texture art for the online roll playing game, EverQuest. During this six-month project our artists not only increased the resolution of the textures, but also heightened the art quality by re-painting nearly 17,000 textures. Our artists had to be certain that the new tiling was consistent with the original game art. This is VSI’s third time working on the EverQuest franchise.
NBA SHOOTOUT (PS2,PSX) MIDWAY HOME ENTERTAINMENT: The VSI game art department was contracted to model, texture and animation over 750 NBA players for Midway’s “NBA Shootout” project. Animation included lip-syncing with facial morph targets.
TIMELINE (PC) TIMELINE PUBLISHING: This game is based on the best-selling Michael Crichton novel, Timeline. Crichton is a co-owner in Timeline, and is deeply involved in every aspect of the approval process of interpretations based on his works. Crichton is best known for his series of novels: Jurassic Park. VSI created storyboards, 3D models, full-motion video, and over ten minutes of complete 3D animation.
RUN LIKE HELL (PS2) INTERPLAY: VSI was contracted to model the game art for this
science fiction based Next-Gen console game. The game’s world boasts over 80 unique environments that VSI’s art team modeled, textured and light.
ROCK’N ROLL RACING (DREAMCAST) INTERPLAY: Interplay’s Tantrum division enlisted the inventive support of VSI’s art-team to contribute to the popular series, Rock & Roll Racing, III. VSI’s contribution to the project included character, vehicle, and weapon designs, shell, game, and conceptual art, in addition to level and track designs.
VANGUARD (PC) RED STORM: VSI was hired to create several animated sequences for this futuristic space adventure. Animations include a win and lose sequence, in addition to several “out-take” animations of a space battle. Best-selling author, Tom Clancy, owns Red Storm Entertainment gaming studio.
PIRATES LAGOON CASINO (PC) TRACAR: TraCar Gaming Solutions is in the business of creating Online Gaming Casinos that entertain players and satisfy licensed casino owners. VSI was commissioned to create nine different casino-style games that include Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Caribbean Poker, Pai Gow, Video Poker, Slots, Keno, and Baccarat.
EVERQUEST (PC) 989 STUDIOS/SCEA: This first-ever Sony On-line game consisted of over 3:00 minutes of completed animation for the opening cinematic. VSI modeled 45 characters and 15 sets for the project.
GAME DAY ’99 (PC AND PSX) 989 STUDIOS/SCEA: 989 Studios contracted VSI to create models and surfaces for 32 high resolution football stadiums, NFL teams and their logos, as well as 8:00 minutes of an animation intro sequences.
JET MOTO III (PSX) 989 STUDIOS/SCEA: Jet Moto 3 is 989 Studios’ jet hover bike racing videogame for the PlayStation game console. Capturing the true physics of futuristic personal watercraft racing, VSI’s art team revamped the look and feel of Jet Moto 3 by creating all new bike designs, characters, and a stylized opening introduction.
TWISTED METAL III (PSX) 989 STUDIOS/SCEA:As one of Sony’s top selling titles, Twisted Metal III has sold over one-million units. VSI contributed to this popular sequel by providing over 15:00 minutes of completed animation for the opening and win sequences. VSI’s roll expanded on the project to include the pre-production elements of scripting and storyboarding for the opening and win sequences, modeling and animating 15 characters- sets and vehicles.
TWISTED METAL IV (PSX) 989 STUDIOS/SCEA: After successfully completing Twisted Metal III, VSI was asked to once again contribute to 989’s flagship product, by creating all new character designs, sets, and vehicles. In addition, VSI added to the creative development of the storyline by conveying the history of Twisted Metal’s Sweet Tooth character through an aged film process that merges with complex shots and innovative techniques.
MIGHT AND MAGIC IV (PC) The 3DO COMPANY:VSI delivered 2:30 minutes of cinematic animation for the opening and win sequences for 3DO’s top selling video game sequel. This project entailed pre-production elements that included the scripting and storyboarding of the opening and win sequences, as well as the modeling of 15 characters and 12 sets.
BATTLE TANX (N64) THE 3DO COMPANY: BattleTanx™ is a classic arcade action shooter, a fast paced game of 3D Armored Tank Combat set in a post-apocalyptic United States. VSI was signed on to create vehicle models and designs for this up and coming battle game.
KAZMANIA (PSX) THE LIGHTSPAN PARTNERSHIP: This unique property is one of 120 interactive titles created by The LightSpan Partnership for interactive use in the class room for grades K-8. VSI was contracted to create game art for several environments in the game.
SPEED TRIBES (PSX) THQ & NEMICRON: This fast-paced racing game required the modeling and animation of 8 characters and 1:00 minute of completed animation.
JUNGLE BOTS (N64) CREATIVE REALITIES: This Nintendo 64 console game required VSI to create original character designs, modeling and animation for opening and win sequences.
